53 Attend Weather Class

The National Weather Service Weather Spotter Class was held Saturday, March 8, 2008. Brownwood ARC and REACT hosted the presentation, given by Hector Guerrero, Warning Coordination Meterologist from the San Angelo NWS office. Over 50 people attended the event, including volunteer firefighters, amateur radio operators, REACT volunteers, and a representative of KHPU.Thanks to Hector and to all who attended this event and made it possible!
K5HIX Takes Over District 3

Robert J. Taylor K5HIX filled the District 3 Emergency Coordinator vacancy for the North Texas Section. Outgoing DEC
Matthew Hinman NA5K welcomed the change citing the need to make some personal time for other things. Robert will work with Official Emergency Station Allen Griffith N5AG and the five counties in the district: Brown, Comanche, Eastland, Erath, and Mills. The North Texas Section is composed of 11 districts and is part of the two-state West Gulf Division including Texas and Oklahoma. The Bell County Expo Center will be hosting multiple events on October 6, 2007. The semi-annual Belton Ham Expo will be held in the usual place. In addition, the 2007 Kid's Expo will be held in the main arena. Kid's Expo is a free event. Bring the entire family, grandkids, whatever, and enjoy both the hamfest and the Kid's Expo.
State needs District Radio Officer for District 44 RACES

The State of Texas Emergency Operations Center is looking for someone to pick up District 44 RACES. The District Radio Officer (DRO) will be responsible for all of District 44, which encompasses an area from Brown in the east to Crockett in the west, and from Sutton in the south to Scurry in the north.A map can be found here:
